I dont want to use what everyone else is, i like to think of myself as an inventor.

So being into engineering and all, i decided to create my own control system. This is the start. Testing IR coding for my tv.

In the future you can expect Lighting control, AC, PC etc… from a small device with a LCD (touch screen) …

Why not simply use whats out there… mainly because… i dont trust it and for quality you need to pay $$$$ . Yeah thats 4 dollar signs… what i want to create can easily run up in the thousands.

Using my new best toy, the XMOS StartKIT, I have designed the IR portion and tested it to my satisfactory. Below is a video of the first working test.

Using only 2 pins from the XMOS board itself. One for UART (RX) and one for IR (output).

The rest of the wires are Power and Ground connections. The little PCB on the breadboard is my very own Breadboard Buddy. Which is a USB to UART with 3.3v and 5v selectable at either rail. On the inner side there are 4 connections. GND, TX, RX and DTR…

Anyway, enjoy the video 🙂 Post some comments if you want.
(watch in fullscreen or youtube for best viewing)

OK some of you may not know this but im trying to control everything possible in my home.
